Hannukah marks a time of celebration for Jewish families, and United Way for Southeastern Michigan is honored to join our local Jewish leaders for the lighting of the Menorah in downtown Detroit this Sunday.
United Way stands strong in solidarity with our Jewish community, which has experienced a rise in antisemitic threats in recent weeks and months. During Hanukkah, the Jewish community celebrates the ancient triumph of Macabee soldiers over the Syrian Greek army. In modern times, Hanukkah reminds us that dedication to righteous causes and standing up for justice matters and that good can triumph over evil.
We are proud to partner with the Jewish community in our shared commitment to doing what is right and serving families most in need of help. United Way strives to create communities where everyone can thrive. That means embracing every individual as part of the diverse tapestry that adds vibrancy and strength to our region and standing vocally against threats to that goal.
We wish everyone a safe and happy Hannukah. Chag Sameach!
