DETROIT REGIONAL WORKFORCE FUND

DETROIT REGIONAL WORKFORCE FUND

The Detroit Regional Workforce Fund (DRWF), an affiliate of the National Fund for Workforce Solutions, brings together investors and leaders from the private, public and nonprofit sectors to connect low- and moderate-income persons to emerging and growing career pathways. As the only regional workforce funders collaborative in Michigan, the focus areas of the DRWF include creating pathways to in-demand and high-growth careers, strengthening the supportive network of training and service providers, and advocating for policies that address systemic barriers to quality employment.

OUR VISION FOR METRO DETROIT

The Detroit Regional Workforce Fund envisions a healthy Southeastern Michigan region where every person in southeastern Michigan has the skills and training necessary to access to a fulfilling career with a livable wage.

SECTOR-BASED INITIATIVES

ACED: Detroit

JOB SKILLS, EDUCATION AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT

Individuals cannot achieve career success without a solid foundation of skills and education. ACED: Detroit (Accelerated Career and Education Development) connects the adult education and workforce systems to help residents of southeastern Michigan build literacy and numeracy competency through contextualized learning, while at the same time, develop occupational and soft skills necessary to get a job and earn a livable wage.

We fund nonprofits, training organizations, social enterprises and community efforts to offer programs that reduce barriers to employment.

    IMPROVING THE WORKFORCE ENVIRONMENT

The DRWF works to create an environment where Metro Detroit workforce development entities can collaborate, share knowledge and best practices and eliminate barriers to employment. We bring stakeholders together to develop common goals and standards of practice, and we work with employers to ensure our programs are aligned with workplace requirements.

We also work to address the unique needs of specific groups, such as Opportunity Youth (adults ages 18-24 who are unemployed and not in school) returning citizens and working parents.

    BUILDING BIPARTISAN POLICY

Through policy and advocacy, we can address social and political barriers to employment, financial stability and economic mobility. DRWF was selected by the National Skills Coalition as a SkillSpan site to build a bipartisan statewide coalition focused on building a policy agenda that creates an environment where every worker has access to the tools necessary to participate and thrive in the workforce.
