Get out the Vote Toolkit
This year, we have important elections on August 6th and November 5th. Nonprofit organizations like yours have a proven ability to empower our communities to vote, with data showing that people engaged by nonprofit organizations were 10% more likely to vote!
Organization 101
Organization 101 meetings help United Way’s team learn about your organization’s mission enabling a personalized approach in sharing resources.
United Way Partner Network
The United Way Partner Network connects nonprofits in Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne counties to share best practices and resources. It includes quarterly meetings, monthly newsletters and updates on funding opportunities and programming from United Way for Southeastern Michigan.
Volunteer Portal
The Volunteer Portal is an free online resource where nonprofits may post one-time and recurring volunteer opportunities. Through it, organizations can receive free volunteer engaging training, free background checks and recruitment assistance. Highlight your organization and request recruitment support through the monthly volunteer newsletter and social media sites.
Funding Opportunities
To apply for or receive information about upcoming United Way for Southeastern Michigan funding opportunities, your organization will need to create an account within the SurveyMonkey Apply system and complete an Organization & Financial profile. If your organization currently has a profile but you are seeking access or you need technical assistance, email SMA@UnitedWaySEM.org.
Catchafire
Catchafire is a skills-based volunteer platform with over 100,000 international volunteers. These skilled volunteers often fill the role of specialized contractors but at no cost to your organization (via United Way’s invitation and sponsorship). Organizations must have 501(c)3 status to utilize the Catchafire platform. Nonprofit organizations can post volunteer projects in most organizational core competencies. To get started, go to our Catchafire page and enter your email address under the “Welcome” banner.
Connect with Communications
Communication is a critical part of any organization’s success. United Way for Southeastern Michigan’s communications team can help organizations spread the word about their programs and success stories through social media channels, virtual town halls and the team’s blog. They offer communications support and best practices for any audience.
Community Fulfillment Center
The United Way Community Fulfillment Center connects those in need with basic everyday essentials, including clothing, food, electronics and more.
Through in-kind donations from United way’s corporate and community partners, this program supports low-income families, nonprofit organizations, faith-based institutions, schools and grassroots community organizations across Southeastern Michigan.
2-1-1 Toolkit
United Way’s 2-1-1 helpline is a free, confidential service connecting hundreds of people every day with resources in their community like food, housing and utility assistance. Use this toolkit to help us ensure that everyone in need knows to call 2-1-1 for help.
