Help flood victims in Southwest Detroit
More than 400 households in Southwest Detroit have recently been impacted by flooding. Volunteers are needed to help perform wellness visits, organize donations and assemble and deliver care packages.

This Privacy Policy of United Way for Southeastern Michigan (“United Way” “we”, “us”, or “our”) describes its policy for treatment of personal information associated with participants in the Ride United program (“Program”), regardless of the method by which that information is collected. This Privacy Policy does not apply to United Way’s practices for collecting and using personal information generally (please see our general Privacy Policy). “You” in this Privacy Policy refers to you personally.
United Way offers the Ride United program to mitigate transportation barriers so residents can access needed resources, obtain and maintain employment, and participate in supportive programs. The program connects residents in need with on-demand rides at no- or low-cost to the participant.
United Way recognizes the importance of protecting information we collect from participants. Our policy is to use the information we collect from participants only for purposes of providing and improving the service. In order to participate in the Ride United program, you must consent to our privacy policy. If you choose to participate in the program, it is our intent to let you know how we will use such information. Our policy for collecting and maintaining personal information is provided below.
By “personal information,” we mean information that is reasonably identifiable to you or a particular device.
Personal information United Way collects includes personal information you provide at the time of program enrollment. In order to enroll in the program, we may request personal information such as, for example, your name, address, email address and phone number. If you choose to contact us via email, website-enabled chat features, or other means, the information you provide may constitute personal information.
We also collect and store information that may be sensitive but not personal information, such as income, employment, benefit enrollment and demographic data. We also collect information on the trips you take through Ride United, such as pickup and drop off locations, time and length of trip, cost of the trip and the reason for the trip.
If you access information about Ride United through our website, United Way also automatically collects navigational information related to your use of the site using analytics trackers, such as those provided by Google Analytics. Information collected may include your internet protocol address, location-based information, browser type, time and date of access and pages accessed, linking information, click stream, page visits, page views, website log files and other website analytics information. If such navigational information becomes reasonably identifiable to you or is reasonably identifiable to a particular device, it will be considered personal information for purposes of this Privacy Policy. Please see Google’s privacy policy for more information regarding the information collected using its trackers and Google’s policies regarding that information.
The program is not directed to children younger than thirteen years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.

Additionally, United Way may disclose personal information to the extent that our service providers require access to our databases, or the information contained in our databases, to service United Way and the site.
Although we cannot guarantee that our or our vendors’ servers are impenetrable, we have attempted to establish and implement reasonable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. Where we use outside vendors to collect, store or process data, we attempt to use vendors who also establish and implement reasonable procedures.
United Way’s websites, smartphone apps or other means of communication with Ride United participants may link to third-party sites for the purposes of sharing resources and opportunities that may be valuable for participants. When using third-party sites you should review the privacy policies of such third-party sites to understand how they collect and use personal information.
United Way keeps personal information for as long as we deem it useful to use, and for as long as applicable law allows us to maintain it.
Program users have the right to request that their information be modified or deleted from our files. We will attempt to honor these requests, subject to applicable law and our judgment that the information is not important for us to maintain for our internal record-keeping purposes.
