Apply for a United Way grant and join us as a nonprofit partner
To create lasting change in Southeastern Michigan we invest in and collaborate with local organizations that effectively create opportunities and produce results in our focus areas.
If you meet the eligibility criteria outlined below, we invite you to apply to receive a United Way grant.
To be eligible for a United Way grant, your program must:
Concentrate its efforts and services within the United Way for Southeastern Michigan service area (Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties) and align with at least one of United Way’s impact areas and strategies.
For grants from our Community Impact Fund, you must also meet financial criteria including a complete annual independent audit, an annual tax return (990/990EZ), an active Board of Directors and an IRS determination letter verifying nonprofit status.
*A review of the stewardship documents will be completed by United Way for Southeastern staff and a committee of volunteers.
Partners who use a centralized and standardized outcome assessment/tracking tool.
Partners who collect and share data and use it to inform decisions.
Partners who demonstrate community connectivity with the capacity for deep engagement.
Partners who use a collection of supportive services, shared operations and use existing structures to maximize individual outcomes.
Partners with the ability to garner financial resources (such as HUD or CMS funds) into the region.
Partners who use innovative approaches to connect and mobilize communities.
Partners who use criteria to prioritize high-need populations based on ZIP codes and poverty data.
Partners who demonstrate an effort toward policies and procedures around diversity and equity inclusion.
