For the past three years, the Detroit Country Day senior has buddied up with first-grade students at Bennett Elementary to celebrate Valentine\u2019s Day by making cards and playing games.\r\n\r\nThe experience opened Alex\u2019s eyes to the stark differences between a private school in Bloomfield Hills and a public school in Southwest Detroit.\r\n\r\n\u201cEducation was always in the forefront of my mind, but I never thought about how people have different opportunities until I was exposed to it,\u201d said Alex. \u201cIt was eye-opening to go from what Country Day offers to a school with fewer resources in the heart of Detroit.\u201d\r\n\r\nThe annual tuition for a high school student at Detroit Country Day costs <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dcds.edu\/admissions\/tuition-affordability\" target=\"_blank\">$40,875<\/a>, lo que supera con creces la renta media de los hogares del suroeste de Detroit, que es de <a href=\"https:\/\/censusreporter.org\/profiles\/79500US2603212-detroit-city-southwest-puma-mi\/\" target=\"_blank\">$35,665<\/a>.
