When did you first start supporting United Way? Why did you join EP?

My involvement with United Way started in my hometown of Buffalo, New York. I was leading a Young Professional Development Group within my organization, and United Way of Greater Buffalo and Erie County presented an excellent opportunity to give back to the community in a targeted, innovative way. Now that I’ve moved to Detroit, I’m excited to continue the relationship I have with United Way for Southeastern Michigan. I’m looking forward to meeting young professionals who share my passion for community engagement and volunteerism.

What was your first job?

I worked at a watch repair kiosk in the mall, which gave me a useful and unique skill set!

What was your most memorable volunteering experience?

As a young adult, I was able to spend time on youth volunteer trips across the country. These trips gave me a deeper appreciation and understanding of how important it is to give back to others. They allowed me to meet people from all walks of life, work together with peers and give back to a new community.

What is your favorite pastime / hobby?

My friends and I enjoy cooking, and we have a monthly supper club, where we try new recipes. I love to travel to new places and I golf in the summer months.

What is your favorite quote or mantra you live by?

“When someone says you can’t do something, do it twice and take pictures.”
