When did you first start supporting United Way?

I first started supporting United Way in 2018 when I joined DTE. I handle the communications efforts for our giving campaign, and once I learned about all the amazing ways that United Way impacts our community, I knew it was something I needed to invest more than just my time in.

What was your first job?

My first “real” job was at a public relations agency where I led media relations campaigns, managed corporate communications strategies, mitigated crisis and issues and coordinated events for a variety of clients. This career step moved me to Grand Rapids for 10 years and I only recently moved back to work at DTE Energy. I’m so happy to be home!

What was your most memorable volunteering experience?

I’ve volunteered as a “buddy” with my father who coaches for the Miracle League, which is a nonprofit that provides children with disabilities the opportunity to play baseball on a team in an organized league. I grew up in a baseball-loving family and spent many seasons on a softball diamond, so there’s something about seeing these kids on a field, swinging a bat and rounding the bases, with their parents watching from the sidelines, that is so impactful. Being able to provide a fun break for families who need it most is an awesome way to spend a Saturday!

What is your favorite pastime/hobby?

I love anything outside and athletic!

What is your favorite quote or mantra you live by?

“Work to make others successful.”
