Celebrating a Century of Living United

United Way for Southeastern Michigan is 100!

To celebrate our 100th anniversary, we hosted a birthday party at Campus Martius Park on Aug. 19. Joined by hundreds of Metro Detroit families, the event included activities, snacks and backpack giveaways, as well as a free showing of the movie “Sing” as part of the Movie Night in the D! series.

REPRESENTATIVES IN ATTENDANCE

Representatives from the city of Detroit and Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties also attended. In addition to celebrating, they spoke of United Way’s impact on their communities.

“Because of United Way, this region is stronger, the social safety net is stronger and the future of our region is stronger,” said Oakland County Commissioner David Woodward. “Whether it’s education or job training or investing in food insecurity, this is the opportunity to continue to commit to pledging to work together for the next 100 years.”

A special thank you to WDIV Channel 4 Anchor Andrew Humphrey for serving as master of ceremonies for the event. Watch the video below for highlights!
