Stop a spike in health care costs!

Enhanced premium tax credits were a lifeline for nearly 22 million Americans, many of whom could not otherwise afford health coverage. However, these credits expired at the end of 2025. Without them, average health premiums for Americans who don’t receive their coverage through a public program or employer have doubled. If Congress fails to extend these credits soon, an estimated 4 million Americans will lose health insurance.

The enhanced premium tax credits dramatically improved the lives of nearly 500,000 Michiganders, including working families, older adults, small-business owners and those who are self-employed. Raising the cost of health insurance for our neighbors will force many to delay or skip needed health care or take on medical debt. It will also destabilize health insurance marketplaces, harm our state economy and increase premiums for everyone.

As the cost of living continues to rise, tell your legislators to keep health insurance costs affordable by extending the enhanced premium tax credits.
